It was a relatively quiet night - I only saw 4 people the entire night! The breeze was cool out of the north and it made driving sort of painful on the eyes. Only one Loggerhead was spotted on the south end of the survey area, but TWO leatherbacks were found. Ixchel, a turtle tagged during the 2002 season was spotted at around 2:30am on Juno Beach. An hour or so later a new turtle was found also on Juno and was tagged by Shana and I. She looked big to me ( they all do!) but was right around the avereage size for our turtles. She nested and was back in the water by about 5:30am.
We couldn't spot the comet this morning as it has dimmed rapidly. More turtles tonight? I think Rhoda is due back, and she has been a regular visitor.
