Last night turned out to be pretty good. We had a new leatherback lay a clutch of eggs near the north end of Juno Beach at around 3am. She was quite large at around 165 centimeters which is one of our largest.. A turtle this size likely weighs 700 pounds or more! Lori Ottlein from the Volusia turtle patrol asked that we name a turtle Heddy after her mom. So, Heddy it is!

This morning I had the chance to see the comet Bradfield which has become bright and beautiful in our night vision scopes! It was hard to see it with the naked eye, but the night scope is amazing. If you get a chance to get on the beach at around 5am over the next few days, look to the east near Pegasus and it should be easy to find. It might even be worth waking up early and taking a trip to the beach (if you are into such things) I took a few pictures and will post one later today.
