Many people use logs to rant and complain about things. So I guess it is my turn to use this forum to whine a bit....
Why do people dig such giant holes in the sand at the beach? What do they expect to find down there? I understand that it is fun to play in the sand - sometimes I even do it! But, why not just build a small castle or mermaid or something? Why the giant holes that could swallow up a VW bug, Mini or even a Hummer? Tonight just happens to be one of those really bad nights to survey the beach using an ATV. The rare combination of the following factors create a not so pleasant night.

1. It is a weekend (Lots of people on the beach)
2. Low tide was in the afternoon (makes for great digging)
3. The moon will set just as high tide occurs (We drive along the high tide line)

Anyway, sorry to rant but it is just one of those nights with no leatherbacks and not much to do! Our first Loggerhead on Juno laid a nest though. Maybe a leathery turtle will follow in her flipper tracks?? More in the morning.
