Nothing to report last night on the leatherback front. The season is drawing to a close now and we are already talking about what we are planning on doing when we have nights off. Sleep maybe?? I know that I will have a hard time staying off the beach! It is tons of fun being out there with all the turtles and wierd people we encounter at night.

The first green turtle nest in the area was recorded this morning. I saw tracks from the turtle (presumably the same) all over the beach last night. She crawled out of the water up near the Jupiter Inlet but did not nest. I saw her tracks several more times as she worked her way down the beach. She finally did nest just north of the Juno Beach fishing pier at around 2AM. Greens are really funny looking to me! Their heads are so small compared to Loggerheads and Leatherbacks. They look like some sort of giant ladybug or something.
